Welcome to E-BND in Education

Newspapers in Education is a cooperative effort of newspapers working with local schools to encourage the use of the newspaper as a tool for instruction and to promote literacy. Under the program, the Belleville News-Democrat sponsors newspapers for teachers to use in their classrooms. NIE teachers also receive curriculum ideas, teaching materials, special supplements, newsletters, training opportunities and more.

E-BND in Education is:

Educational. Your E-BND in Education subscription includes other free educational content, such as Online Lessons, Political Cartoons, and Educational Links.

Efficient. One order provides access to the Belleville News-Democrat seven days a week and to every E-BND in Education program for that semester.

Easy-to-Use. Search by keywords and project/print what's applicable to your lesson plans. Once student supplements and teacher guides are put online, they're available to you through the end of the current semester.

Edgy. E-BND reaches students where they live-in an increasingly digital world.

NIE Trivia Night

A Trivia Night will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010, to raise funds for Newspaper in Education.

The event will be held at the O'Fallon VFW, Post 805, located at 221 West First Street in O'Fallon, IL. Doors open at 6 p.m. A silent auction is included in the event and starts at 6:30 p.m. Trivia starts at 7 p.m.

Play 10 rounds (10 questions each) for just $10 a person (6-10 players per team). Reservations are recommended, but not required. Walk-ins are welcome – we will find you a team.

The event Emcee is Roger Schlueter, the News-Democrat's very own Answer Man.
